The Southern African Young Women's Festival 2012 (SAYWF) takes off in the next few hours!
Participants from 10 countries from around southern Africa are gathered to talk, debate and discuss feminism, feminist practice and theory. The theme for this years Festival is "Challenging Oppressive Systems: Creating Transformative Alternatives for Young Women".
The Festival aims to:
- Provide a platform for young women to network and share experiences, strategies and ideas;
- Provide a space for young women to express themselves and define and learn from each other and from invited seasoned feminists;
- Showcasing the young feminists activities and initiatives they are involved in, in their respective countries;
- Mobilise and galvanize young women into a loose regional network of young feminists sharing information and exchanging ideas in areas of mutual interest,
